A Billion Dollar Game

Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), as quoted by Dialy Times, says that Pakistan imported cellular phones worth $ 1 billion during the current fiscal year.

A few days ago, Daily Times was reporting that Pakistan imported cell phone worth just around $780,000 which was clearly illogical.

Well, 780,000 USD becomes a very logical number if it represents the imports for one month. I read the same article and found almost the same number USD 708,000, if memory serves me right, per month import figure. I believe that the figure quoted in dailytimes was for per month figure.

Ummro: Here’s the excerpt from that news item in DT:
Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $728,283 during July 2006–April 2007 of the current fiscal year as compared with $568,930 during the same period in July 2005–April 2006.
It clearly talks about many many months
